The 2008 Opera and Ballet Season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, continues with its fourth performance: Andrea Chénier, historical drama in four acts with libretto by Luigi Illica and music by Umberto Giordano, in a staging by the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.

The veristic masterpiece will be performed by two prestigious casts which will alternate for the performances: Walter Fraccaro, in his début in the role/Keith Olsen (22nd, 26th) (Andrea Chénier), Marco Vratogna/Leo An (22nd, 26th, 29th) (Carlo Gérard), Martina Serafin/Maria Pia Jonata (22nd, 26th) (Maddalena di Coigny), Marilena Laurenza (Bersi, Maddalena’s mulatta maid), Cinzia De Mola (Countess di Coigny), Milena Storti (Madelon), Alessandro Guerzoni/Cesare Lana (22nd, 26th) (Roucher), Davide Pelissero (Pietro Fléville, a writer), Alessandro Battiato (Fouquier Tinville), Alessandro Busi (Mathieu, a revolutionary), Carlo Bosi (L’incredibile, a spy), Max René Cosotti (The Abbé, a poet), Riccardo Ferrari (Schmidt), Gianvito Ribba (the butler), Gabriele Nani (Dumas).

The production, scenery and costumes of Cagliari’s staging are designed by Giancarlo Del Monaco, the lightingis by Wolfgang von Zoubek.

The Teatro Lirico Orchestra and Chorus are conducted by George Pehlivanian. The chorus master is Fulvio Fogliazza.
