The Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, for the first time, at the 61st International Sardinian Trade Fair

From Thursday 23rd April to Monday 4th May, at the 61st International Sardinian Trade Fair (pavilion I, 1st floor), the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari will be present with a 130-square-metre exhibition stand, where some of the most significant set parts and props belonging to the theatre and used in recent new stagings will be on show. The Stage Design department and the Technical department of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari have prepared an exciting and interesting stand: Euryanthe’s white horse and the three grey horses of his aristocratic followers, part of the set design that Pier Luigi Pizzi very successfully put on stage in Januray 2002; a cannon and a machine gun from Aida, staged in 2003, and to be performed again in July 2009; a screen of twelve puppets drawn by Margherita Palli, set designer for Luca Ronconi, who together produced Alfonso und Estrella by Franz Schubert in January 2004; fifteen armchairs from the opera Oedipe by George Enescu (2005); six life-size sheep from the lively production of Chérubin, opening opera of the 2006 Opera and Ballet Season and a master piece by Jules Massenet, with Paul Curran (production) and Paul Edwards (set and costumes); the rich stage costume designed by William Orlandi for Puccini’s Manon Lescaut in July 2007; three costumes and some props from The legend of the invisible city of Kitež and of the maiden Fevronija by Nikolaj Rimskij-Korsakov (2008). The photos by Priamo Tolu, the in-house photographer, crown the exhibition: photos depicting the sets, technicians and artists’ work at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, giving a face to the accomplishers of these fascinating dreams.
