At the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, La Cenerentola, drama giocoso in two acts with libretto by Jacopo Ferretti, will be performed for the 2010 Opera and Ballet Season; the opera is based on the famous fairy tale by Charles Perrault, with music by Gioachino Rossini.

The opera is performed in concert form by two prestigious casts: Edgardo Rocha/John Zuckerman (13th, 15th) (Don Ramiro); Simone Alberghini (Dandini); Antonio De Gobbi (Don Magnifico); Eleonora Cilli (Clorinda); Alessandra Volpe (Tisbe); Nicola Ulivieri/Maurizio Lo Piccolo (13th, 15th) (Alidoro) and Josè Maria Lo Monaco/Daniela Pini (13th, 15th) (Angelina, detta Cenerentola).

Hubert Soudant conducts the Teatro Lirico Orchestra and Chorus; the Dutch conductor is a well known and much applauded presence in Cagliari, having conducted numerous symphonic concerts. Fulvio Fogliazza is the Chorus master.

La Cenerentola, last performed in Cagliari back in 1977, will be repeated on Sunday 10th October at 5pm (session D), Tuesday 12th October at 8.30pm (session B), Wednesday 13th October at 8.30pm (session F), Thursday 14th October at 8.30pm (session C), Friday 15th October at 8.3pm (session G) and Sunday 17th October at 5pm (session E).
Following the strike called by the OO. SS. at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, the performance of La Cenerentola by Gioachino Rossini scheduled for Friday 8th October (session A) will not go ahead.

The 2010 Opera and Ballet Season is subsidized by the Fondazione Banco di Sardegna.
