La Bohème, everlasting and much-loved masterpiece by Giacomo Puccini, returns to the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari
On Friday 8th January (session A), La Bohéme will be staged, as the closing opera of the 2009 Opera and Ballet Season: opera with four scenes, with libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, taken from Scénes de la via de bohéme by Henri Murger and music by Giacomo Puccini in a prodution by the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and the Badisches Staatstheater, Karlsruhe. Two prestigious casts alternate for the performances: Massimiliano Pisapia/Leonardo Capalbo (9th, 12th) (Rodolfo), Enrico Maria Marabelli/Daniel Billings (15th, 17th) (Schaunard), John Pickering (Benoît/Alcindoro), Francesca Sassu/Hyun Kyung Son (9th, 12th) (Mimì), Adrian Gans/Giovanni Guagliardo (9th, 12th) (Marcello), Riccardo Ferrari/Konstantin Gorny (9th, 10th, 17th) (Colline), Elisabetta Scano/Soojin Moon (9th, 12th, 13th, 15th) (Musetta), Moreno Patteri (Parpignol), Giampaolo Ledda (A tradesman), Alessandro Frabotta (Customs Sergeant)), Alessandro Perucca (A Customs Officer). Anthony Bramall conducts the Teatro Lirico Orchestra, the Chorus and the Junior Chorus. The Chorus Master is Fulvio Fogliazza. The Junior Chorus Master is Enrico Di Maira. Giancarlo del Monaco who also produced the much-applauded Andrea Chénier by Umberto Giordano in July 2008 created this Cagliari production, taken up by Robert Tannenbaum. Set design and costumes are by Michael Scott, lighting design Gerd Meier. La Bohème, which was last staged at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari in March 2003, will be performed: Friday 8th January, 8.30pm – session A Saturday 9th January, 7pm – session G Sunday 10th January, 5pm – session D Tuesday 12th January, 8.30pm – session F Wednesday 13th January, 8.30pm – session B Friday 15th January, 8.30pm – session C Sunday 17th January, 5pm – session E The 2009 Opera and Ballet Season is subsidized by the Fondazione Banco di Sardegna. |
