The 2008 Opera and Ballet Season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari closes with the seventh and final performance of the year: Evgenij Onegin, opera scenes in three acts with libretto by Konstantin Stepanovič Šilovskij and music by Pëtr Il’ič Čaikovskij, in a staging by Teatro Mariinskij, St Petersburg.

The Russican masterpiece, will be performed in original language with Italian surtitles, by two prestigious casts which alternate for the performances: Tiziana Tramonti (Larina), Marina Rebeka/Yekaterina Shcherbachenko (22nd, 29th) (Tat’jana), Elena Belfiore (Ol’ga), Cinzia De Mola (Filippevna), Roberto Frontali/Gevork Hakobyan (22th, 29th) (Evgenij Onegin), Alex Wawiloff/Ivan Momirov (22nd, 29th) (Lenskij), Giorgio Surjan/Alexei Tanovitski (22nd, 29th) (Prince Gremin), Jan Thompson (Triquet), Alessandro Senes (Žarseckij), Francesco Musinu (Captain), Alessandro Bellanova (A farmer), Mirko Secci (A farmer).


Patrice Caurier and Moshe Leiser direct the opera, and Jean Michel Criqui at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, the designer is Christian Fenouillat, the costumes are by Agostino Cavalca and the lights by Christophe Forey.

Mikhail Jurowsky conducts the Teatro Lirico Orchestra and Chorus. The chorus master is Fulvio Fogliazza.

Evgenij Onegin will also be performed on:
