Teatro Lirico Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Pinchas Steinberg, open the 2009-2010 Concert Season on 6th-7th November

As with previous years, the Teatro Lirico Orchestra and Chorus, conducted this year by Pinchas Steinberg, are responsible for the inauguration of the 2009-2010 Concert Season on Friday 6th November at 8.30pm and Saturday 7th November at 7pm.

The soloists are: Adina Aaron (soprano), Ildiko Komlosi (mezzosoprano), Scott Mac Allister (tenor) and Rudolph Rosen (bass). Fulvio Fogliazza is the Chorus Master.

The opening evening programme includes the performance of Rendering, a very particular and charming reinterpretation by Luciano Berio of a piano draft dated 1828 by Franz Schubert for Symphony in D major, which was never completed.

The second part is dedicated entirely to one of the most extraordinary masterpieces in the history of music: Ludwig van Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in D minor Op. 125 for solos, chorus and orchestra, an impressive symphonic-choral piece, composed between 1822 and 1824. The fourth movement (Finale) includes the very famous “Inno alla gioia” on a test by Friedrich von Schiller, through which the brilliant German composer invites all into a universal fraternity.
