The Teatro Lirico Orchestra, conducted by Pinchas Steinberg, and the violinist Domenico Nordio for the 2007-2008 Concert Season

The 2007-2008 Concert Season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, continues with its seventeenth date, Friday 7th March at 8.30pm (band A) and Saturday 8th March at 7pm (band B): the Teatro Lirico Orchestra returns conducted by the Israeli conductor Pinchas Steinberg, and as soloist, the violinist Domenico Nordio from Veneto.

The musical programme includes: Concerto in D major for violin and orchestra op. 61 by Ludwig van Beethoven; Symphony No. 4 in E minor op. 98 by Johannes Brahms.

The marvellous Concerto in D major that Ludwig van Beethoven (Bonn, 1770 – Vienna, 1827) composed in December 1806 and dedicated to Stephan von Breuning, is, to this day an extraordinary example of the brilliant blend between soloist and orchestra.
Throughout the four symphonies composed by Johannes Brahms (Hamburg, 1833 – Vienna, 1897), the classical structure of four movements is adhered to, though all four are original and personal in their style. Brahms Symphony No. 4, composed in 1884-1885, is the most famous, a remarkable specimen of his mastery of symphonic composition.

The 2007-2008 Concert Season is subsidized by the Fondazione Banco di Sardegna and is accomplished in collaboration with the Azienda e Vigneto Feudi della Medusa.
