Refined ancient music with the Hilliard Ensemble on Tuesday 24th February for the 2008-2009 Concert Season

The 2008-2009 Concert Season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari continues with its seventh appointment on Tuesday 24th February at 8.30pm (session B): a unique evening dedicated to a collection of rare, ancient music, entitled Douce Memoire performed by the Hilliard Ensemble, a vocal chamber group of world-wide fame comprising: David James (counter- tenor), Rogers Covey-Crump, Steven Harrold (tenors), Gordon Jones (baritone).

The evenings programme includes: Donnés l'assault; Ce jour de l'an; Ma belle dame souveraine; Flos florum; Anima mea; O proles Hispaniæ by Guillaume Dufay; Kullervo's message by Veljo Tormis; Il bianco e dolce cigno by Jakob Arcadelt; Passacalli della vita Anonymous; Divini occhi sereni by Philippe Verdelot; O sonno by Cipriano de Rore; Mille regretz by Josquin Desprez; Petite camusette by Antoine de Févin; Douce mémoire by Pierre Sandrin; Weep o mine eyes by John Bennet; Cease sorrows now by Thomas Weelkes; Consture my meaning by Giles Farnaby; Remember me my dear Anonymous; Whale Rant by Elizabeth Liddle; Il est bel est bon by Pierre Passereau; Douce mémoire by Antoine Gardane; Le chant des oiseaux by Clément Jannequin.

The concert was originally scheduled for Saturday 17th January at 7pm (sessionB), but was postponed due to the unavailability of one of the members of the group, which brought about several cancellations of the European tour dates, including the concert in Cagliari.
