The Capuçon brothers, two talented young French men, for the first time at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari
The 2007-2008 Concert Season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, continues with its twenty-first date, Friday 21st March at 8.30pm (session A) and Saturday 22nd March at 7pm (session B). The Teatro Lirico Orchestra will be performing, conducted by Claus Peter Flor who returns to Cagliari following the performance in February last year. The two young French brothers, outstanding soloists, will be making their debut at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari: violin Renaud Capuçon and cello Gautier Capuçon.
The musical programme includes: Concerto in A minor for violin and cello op. 102 by Johannes Brahms and the very famous Symphony No. 7 in A major op. 92 by Ludwig van Beethoven. The magnificent Double Concerto for violin and cello, composed by Johannes Brahms (Hamburg, 1833 – Vienna, 1897) in 1887, was ignored by critics for a long time, but has now, fortunately, entered the list of great musical works of the nineteenth century. It is an remarkable résumé of Brahm’s style based on the classical form, developing a profoundly romantic harmony. Ludwig van Beethoven (Bonn, 1770 – Vienna, 1827) composed Symphony No.7 between 1811 and 1812. Among the countless and prestigious critical essays published, Richard Wagner’s stands out. Regarding this work Wagner wrote in “L’Opera d’arte dell’avvenire” “ The Symphony is the Apotheosis of the Dance itself: it is Dance in its highest aspect, the loftiest deed of bodily motion, incorporated into an ideal mould of tone. In his works Beethoven brought the body into music, realising a fusion between the body and mind.” The 2007-2008 Concert Season is subsidized by the Fondazione Banco di Sardegna and is accomplished in collaboration with the Azienda e Vigneto Feudi della Medusa. |
