Operatic recital by Maria Mastino on tour in Sardinia for “Un’Isola di Musica”
On Thursday 23rd July at 9.30pm, set in the charming venue Chiostro di San Francesco in Alghero, a jewel of Gothic-Catalan architecture in Sardinia, “Un’Isola di Musica - Festival d’estate 2009” continues for the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, with four performances dedicated to opera, starring the soprano Maria Mastino. Valerio Carta, piano accompaniment.
The evening, entitled Le grandi eroine del melodramma romantico e verista (Great heroines of romantic and verist melodrama) is dedicated to great opera music, arias from popular 19th century melodramas interpreted by the well-known dramatic soprano from Sassari.
The muscail programme includes arias from: Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni, Madama Butterfly, Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, Mefistofele by Arrigo Boito, Mefistofele by Arrigo Boito, I vespri siciliani, Il Trovatore, La forza del destino, Otello by Giuseppe Verdi.
The other three dates are: Saturday 25th July at 10pm in Chiesa di Stella Maris in Porto Cervo; Monday 27th July at 8.30 in Chiesa di San Lorenzo in Porto Rotondo; Saturday 1st August at 10pm in Chiesa di Santa Maria della Neve in Arzachena.
