The opening ceremony for the sixtieth edition of Prix Italia will be held on Tuesday 16th September 2008, at 7pm, at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari.

Prix Italia is an international competition for radio, television and web programmes that is organized by the Rai and encouraged by the Regione Sardegna, which after 23 years will be taking place in Cagliari from the 14th to the 16th September.

The Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai conducted by Wayne Marshall will perform music by Gerswin for the occasion with a special performance by Paolo Fresu. The event will be televised on RAI DUE “Palcoscenico”.
