On Friday 18th July, at 11am, in the Stalls foyer at the Teatro Lirico, the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari 2008-2009 Concert Season was presented by the mayor of Cagliari Emilio Floris, president of the Fondazione Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, by the superintendent Maurizio Pietrantonio and by the artistic director Massimo Biscardi.

A rich musical programme of performances of exceptional artistic importance: a total of 36 concerts in all, symphony, symphony-choral and chamber concerts on dates between 24th October 2008 and 9th May 2009.

The Teatro Lirico di Cagliari Orchestra and Chorus will be the Season�s protagonists and the theatre will of course welcome numerous guests of international acclaim such as the Budapest Festival Orchestra conducted by Iván Fischer, La Petite Bande conducted by Sigiswald Kuijken and the Hilliard Ensemble, soloists such as Vadim Repin, Alexander Lonquich, Lars Vogt, Sarah Chang and Sandro De Palma and conductors like Hartmut Haenchen, Pinchas Steinberg, Alexander Vedernikov, Hubert Soudant, Helmuth Rilling and Christian Arming. Two operas in concert form are also on the programme: Bluebeard�s Castle by Béla Bartók and Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin.
