The Sant’Elia Youth Orchestra, Tueday 16th June at 9pm at the Lazzaretto di Cagliari

On Tuesday 16th June at 9pm the Sant’Elia Youth Orchestra will be performing at the Local Centre for Art and Culture ‘Il Lazzaretto’ in Sant’Elia, Cagliari. The musical event is the result of two years work and international experience, for which some of the Orchestra members spent a period of time at the Opéra national de Paris, last December, with the production of a multi-lingual performance (French, Italian, Hungarian and Dutch), of music, theatre and dance, inspired by Romeo and Juliette the tragedy by William Shakespeare.

Entrance to the event is free.

The project’s aim is the integration and socialization of youngsters from the suburbs of the city through active music practice. It has operated thanks also to support from the Fondazione Vodafone Italia, the city of Cagliari, the province of Cagliari, the CTM Consorzio Trasporti e Mobilità (Transport and Mobility Group), the State Music Conservatory “Pierluigi da Palestrina” Cagliari, Regional Education Office and diocesan Caritas, under the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari’s guidance.

During the performance the progress of the children and youngsters, who are part of the Orchestra, will be apparent as they present the main pieces performed in Paris and some original pieces arranged by the young composer Francesco Marceddu.
