Semėn Kotko, opera in five acts with libretto by Sergej Prokofev and Valentin Katajev, and music by Sergej Prokofev which opens the IX Festival di SantEfisio and the 2009 Opera and Ballet Season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari will be recorded and broadcast, live on Euroradio, on Wednesday 22nd April at 8.30pm, by Rai Radio Tre, during the programme Radio Tre Suite.
Oreste Bossini, will present the programme, from the studio in Rome and Marco Mauceri, from the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. The opera, which last approximately three hours and fifteen minutes, will have two intervals after the second and third acts respectively, during which prestigious music critics present in the theatre will be interviewed.
Semėn Kotko will be broadcast not only in Italy, but also in several other countries via their own national radio stations.
There will be further programmes regarding the production on various radio stations. On Saturday 18th April, at 1pm, on Rai Radio Tre, the programme La scena invisibile, edited by Anna Rita Caroli and presented by Sandro Cappelletto, will be dedicated entirely to Semėn Kotko and will include a long interview with the conductor Alexander Vedernikov.
