Fulvio Fogliazza

Born in Cremona, Italy, Fulvio Fogliazzi studied at the Conservatorio di Musica “Arrigo Boito” in Parma and qualified in piano with Piero Rattalino and in composition with Franco Margola. He went on to study conducting under Sergiu Celibidache and Franco Ferrara.
After a significant career period as a concert performer in Europe, he devoted himself to the preparation of polyphonic and opera choirs in the theatres of Cremona, Bergamo, Brescia and Parma. In Italy, he has worked as Chorus Master in the major opera houses including the Comunale in Bologna from 1970 to 1980, the Regio in Turin from 1981 to 1991, the Massimo in Palermo from 1991 to 1999 and from 2002 to 2005 and the Carlo Felice in Genoa from 1999 to 2000.
He has taught “Score Reading” in several Italian Music Schools and has spent time composing, amongst other pieces, a Concerto per pianoforte e orchestra.
His performances of ancient polyphonic music include Sederunt principes by Perotinus and he has performed modern and contemporary music for the Festival “Settembre Musica”
He has collaborated with directors such as Igor Markevitch, Riccardo Chailly and Gianandrea Gavazzeni.
