“Tribute to Ennio Porrino”: the film “Tu madre, tu Sardegna” (You mother, you Sardinia) to inaugurate the event in the Stalls of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari
On Monday 21st September at 8.30pm, in the stalls foyer at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, the opening evening of the Tribute to Ennio Porrino will be held, during which the film “Tu madre, tu Sardegna” produced by the Rai Sardegna in 1990, with music by Ennio Porrino, will be shown; his daughter Stefania oversaw the topic, set design and production. The actor, Massimo Foschi, well known today as a dubber, plays the part of Ennio Porrino. Porrino’s daughter will take part in the evening as well as the composer’s wife Màlgari Onnis Porrino.
The 50-minute film tells of Ennio Porrino’s return to Sardinia after his studies, his first positions and early compositions and some of the most evocative scenes were filmed in the Castello area of Cagliari and the charming setting of Santa Marina’s church in Villanovaforru.
Entrance to the film is free.
The events, organized by the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari in collaboration with the Conservatory “Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina”, Cagliari, are on the occasion of the centenary of the composer’s birth and fifty years of his death (Cagliari, 20th January 1910 - Rome, 25th September 1959). Due to the diversity of events in the programme it is entitled Omaggio a Ennio Porrino: musica, parole ed immagini per un ritratto.
