On Wednesday 15th october at 8.30pm (session B), the performance of La sonnambula by Vincenzo Bellini will be broadcast, live via satellite, from the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, in numerous international cinemas taking part in the project DDCinema (Distribution of Digital Cinema), promoted by Dynamic srl, in association with Qubo srl and the Belgian company Xdc.

The European project schedules the production and distribution of cultural subjects in international cinemas which are equipped with digital high definition. DDCinema aims at presenting a wide range of screenings: productions from the best Italian and European theatres both live via satellite to hundreds of European and international cinemas and via recorded broadcasts (www.ddcinema.net).

Around 100 Eurpoean cinemas are involved with DDCinema (cinemas located in Britain, Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands Belgium, Austria, Poland, Switzerland and Italy). During the 2008- 2009 Season other 200 cinemas will join and a further 300 in the 2009-2010 Season. At present over 3,000 cinemas around the world are equipped with 2K high definition digital projectors and the number is ever growing.

The melodramma in two acts with libretto by Felice Romani and music by Vincenzo Bellini will be performed by two prestigious casts: Simone Alaimo (Il conte Rodolfo), Gabriella Colecchia (Teresa), Eglise Gutierrez (Amina), Antonino Siragusa (Elvino), Sandra Pastrana (Lisa), Gabriele Nani (Alessio), Max René Cosotti (Un notaro).

The staging is by the Fondazione Arena di Verona. Staging, production, scenery and costumes are the work of Hugo de Ana, light designer Paolo Mazzon and choreography Leda Lojodice.

The Teatro Lirico Orchestra and Chorus are conducted by Maurizio Benini. The Chorus Master is Fulio Fogliazza
