A boom in Season Tickets at the Lirico, awaiting Abbado

Tuesday evening’s concert at the Teatro Lirico has been all sold out for weeks. Claudio Abbado, ‘the’ Conductor, conducts his Orchestra Mozart, in an evening dedicated to music by Haydn, Mozart and Mendelssohn. Abbado is already in Cagliari, having recovered completely after not feeling well on Sunday in Parma. After 45 years he returns to Cagliari where he achieved one of his early success stories in an extraordinary career.

It is a lucky coincidence that the next appointment on the calendar of the 2009-2010 Concert Season is the exhibition of the young Master Diego Matheuz, who Abbado invited as main guest conductor of the Orchestra Mozart, praising him for "clarity of ideas and musical intelligence". Matheuz conducts the Teatro Lirico Orchestra and the violinist Kolja Blacher in Concerto for violin and orchestra by Ludwig van Beethoven and Symphony N.4 in E minor by Johannes Brahms.

On the eve of these coming performances and after the sale of season tickets for the 2009-2010 Concert Season, the Lirico announces that it has reached 2727 Season Ticket holders, an increase of 5 percent on last year’s satisfying results. These numbers add to the 8400 Season Ticket Holders of the 2009 Opera and Ballet Season. The Chief Executive Maurizio Pietrantonio comments, "I can confirm our public’s appreciation of a high quality programme that has been offered with no price increase, especially considering the delicate present economical situation that all of Sardinia is facing".

Among other promotional initiatives the Lirico would also like to point out the pleasing results of the students’ card "Io studio", promoted by the Presidency of the Republic for the purchase of season tickets or tickets for only one concert.
