Alessandro D’Agostini conducts the Teatro Lirico Strings Orchestra, on tour in Sardinia with Concerto barocco On Wednesday 28th July the Teatro Lirico musical activities in Sardinia continue with eight performances entitled Concerto barocco dedicated entirely to the refined music of the seventeenth and eighteenth century. Alessandro D’Agostini conducts the Teatro Lirico String Orchestra and the soloists are: Maurizio Minore (viola) and Simone Guarneri (double bass). The seven other performances are: Thursday 29th July at 9pm at Centro Santa Barbara, Iglesias; Friday 30th July at 7.30pm at the Chiesa Santa Maria degli Angeli, Flumini, Quartu S. Elena; Saturday 31st July at 9pm at the Teatro La Vetreria, Cagliari-Pirri; Tuesday 3rd August at 9.15pm at the Teatro Comunale, Palau; Wednesday 4th August at 9pm at the Teatro Comunale, Arzachena; Friday 6th August at 9pm at the Arena Mirastelle, Carbonia and Saturday 7th August at 9pm in San Pantaleo Cathedral Parvis, Dolianova.

On Wednesday 28th July at 9pm, in Piazza delle ex Scuole, Via del Mare, Villasimius, the Teatro Lirico musical activities continue with four performances entitled Va pensiero..., dedicated to choral music and to great opera scenes. Fulvio Fogliazza conducts the Teatro Lirico Chorus. Musical accompaniment on the piano by Andrea Mudu. BOD approves the 2009 accounts, closure balances for the sixth year.
Interesting news, top ranking Italian artists and great names from the international music scene characterize this 2010/2011 Concert Season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari launched on Friday 25th June by the Theatre’s Board of Directors The BOD also approved the final balance for 2009, breaking even for the sixth year in a row. “This proves the successful management results that have distinguished my entire mandate in Cagliari”, reveals the CE Maurizio Pierantonio. “A management, which despite the minimal profits, has placed the Lirico in a unique position among the Italian Establishments due to the monetary austerity and the quality of the artistic productions expressed, two factors that the Cagliari public (and not only) have shown appreciation for.”
International Selections through qualifications and examinations, for Orchestra members The Teatro Lirico di Cagliari Establishment announces International Selections for qualifications and examinations, for Orchestra members to be included in the classification list allowing candidates to proceed to possible recruiting, with a fixed term contract, substitutions and any requirements regarding the artistic activities of the 2010/2011 Season. All'interno "il ritorno della Tosca" anticipa un simpaticissimo articolo di Massimiliano Medda incentrato sulla sua esperienza al Lirico con le attività dedicate ai bambini. E proprio ai bambini è dedicato anche l'apporto di Enrico Di Maira che illustra l'emozione dei piccoli membri dell'Orchestra Giovanile Sant'Elia. L’elisir d’amore by Gaetano Donizetti on tour in Sardinia On Friday 16th July at 9pm, in the Parvis of San Pantaleo Cathedral in Dolianova, Teatro Lirico’s musical activities in Sardinia continue with the performance, in concert form, of a narrated and sung anthology of the opera L’elisir d’amore, melodrama giocoso in two acts, with libretto by Felice Romani, taken from the novel Le Philtre by Eugène Scribe and music by Gaetano Donizetti. Alessandro D’Agostini conducts the Teatro Lirico Orchestra and Chorus. The chorus master is Fulvio Fogliazza. Walter Althammer conducts the Teatro Lirico Orchestra, and Nicola Fioravanti, bassoon. Two prestigious casts alternate for the performances: Anda-Louise Bogza/Maria Billeri (5th, 9th) (Floria Tosca); Roberto Aronica/Rudy Park (5th, 9th) (Mario Cavaradossi); Giorgio Surian/Angelo Veccia (5th, 9th, 10th) (Baron Scarpia); Alessandro Guerzoni (Cesare Angelotti); Marco Camastra (A Sacristan); Carlo Bosi (Spoletta); Francesco Musinu (Sciarrone); Alessandro Perucca (A jailer); Alessandra Mei (A shepherd). I Puritani by Vincenzo Bellini at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari for Prima della Prima on Rai Tre On Tuesday 6th July at 01.40, on Rai Tre, the programme Prima della Prima is dedicated entirely to the recent production of I Puritani by Vincenzo Bellini at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. The well-known programme, lasting 30 minutes, with Rosaria Bronzetti, focuses on “behind the scenes” of operatic productions. The Teatro Lirico di Cagliari report, for the television production by Daniele Deplano, was created by cutting and editing images taken from orchestra and production rehearsals, and from interviews with the main singers. Mariella Devia, queen of eighteenth century belcanto, is the undisputed star of this edition of the Bellini masterpiece; she received unprecedented standing ovations and personal success.

Tribute to Ennio Porrino: the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and the Conservatory remember the Sardinian composer The Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, has organized a series of events in collaboration with the Conservatory “Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina”, Cagliari, dedicated to the composer Ennio Porrino (Cagliari, 20th January 1910 – Rome, 25th September 1959), on the occasion of the centenary of the composer’s birth and fifty years of his death, entitled Omaggio a Ennio Porrino: musica, parole ed immagini per un ritratto (Tribute to Ennio Porrino: music, words and images for a portrait). The main aim of the whole event, apart from offering the opportunity to listen to rare pieces of beautiful music, is to open a new phase of research and study of the prolific Sardinian composer a through well-organized study congress, which will round up the yearlong programme in September 2010.
