Wonderful Town di Leonard Bernstein, il 19-20 marzo, per la Stagione concertistica 2009-2010	La Stagione concertistica 2009-2010 del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari prosegue con il diciottesimo appuntamento, venerdì 19 marzo alle 20.30 (turno A) e sabato 20 marzo alle 19 (turno B): dopo il gradimento del pubblico della due passate stagioni per La dama di picche di Petr Il’ič Čaikovskij (2008), Il castello del principe Barbablù di Béla Bartók (2008) e Porgy and Bess di George Gershwin (2009), anche quest’anno viene proposta, dopo il recentissimo successo di Orfeo ed Euridice di Christoph Willibald Gluck e I Shardana di Ennio Porrino, l’esecuzione di un’altra opera lirica in forma di concerto: Wonderful Town, commedia musicale in due atti di Leonard Bernstein (Lawrence, 1918 - New York, 1990), su libretto di Joseph Albert Fields e Jerome Chodorov. L’occasione, unica nel suo genere, consente soprattutto una maggior concentrazione sull’ascolto musicale, non essendo previsto l’ausilio della parte visiva (regia, scene, costumi e luci).
Martedì 23 marzo 2010 alle 20, La sonnambula di Vincenzo Bellini dal Teatro Lirico di Cagliari al Cineworld	Martedì 23 marzo 2010, alle 20, al Cineworld, la multisala di viale Monastir a Cagliari, prosegue la rassegna “L’opera al cinema” con la proiezione di La sonnambula di Vincenzo Bellini, registrata al Teatro Lirico di Cagliari il 15 ottobre 2008. Il melodramma in due atti su libretto di Felice Romani e musica di Vincenzo Bellini si avvale di un prestigioso cast di artisti: Simone Alaimo (Il conte Rodolfo), Gabriella Colecchia (Teresa), Eglise Gutierrez (Amina), Antonino Siragusa (Elvino), Sandra Pastrana (Lisa), Gabriele Nani (Alessio), Max René Cosotti (Un notaro). L’allestimento che proviene dalla Fondazione Arena di Verona è firmato, per regia, scene e costumi, da Hugo de Ana, mentre le luci sono curate da Paolo Mazzon e la coreografia da Leda Lojodice. L’Orchestra e il Coro del Teatro Lirico sono diretti dal maestro concertatore e direttore Maurizio Benini. Il maestro del coro è Fulvio Fogliazza.
Il Quartetto Ysaÿe, raffinato ensemble da camera, sabato 27 marzo alle 19, per la Stagione concertistica 2009-2010	La Stagione concertistica 2009-2010 del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari prosegue, sabato 27 marzo alle 19 (turno B), con il diciannovesimo appuntamento: si esibisce, in un’unica serata di eccellente musica da camera, il Quartetto Ysaÿe. L’ensemble che l’autorevole quotidiano francese “Le Monde” ha definito «Le meilleur de nos quatuors français», è composto da: Guillaume Sutre, Luc-Marie Aguera (violini); Miguel da Silva (viola); Yovan Markovitch (violoncello). Il programma musicale prevede: Quartetto in re maggiore per archi Hob. III 79 di Franz Joseph Haydn; Quartetto n. 2 per archi op. 56 di Karol Szymanowski; Quartetto in mi minore per archi op. 59 n. 2 di Ludwig van Beethoven.
Preziosa musica da camera con Janine Jansen e Itamar Golan, lunedì 15 marzo alle 20.30, per la Stagione concertistica 2009-2010	La Stagione concertistica 2009-2010 del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari prosegue, lunedì 15 marzo alle 20.30 (turno A), con il diciassettesimo appuntamento: si esibiscono, in un’unica serata di eccellente musica da camera, la violinista olandese Janine Jansen ed il pianista lettone Itamar Golan. Il programma musicale prevede: Sonata in sol maggiore per violino e pianoforte “Regensonate” op. 78 di Johannes Brahms; Sonata n. 2 per violino e pianoforte di Béla Bartók; Sonata per violino e pianoforte di Leoš Janáček; Sonata in fa maggiore per violino e pianoforte “La Primavera” op. 24 di Ludwig van Beethoven.
'Sedicesimo di Centuria ... con un lieve disagio' di Vittorio Testa, in prima esecuzione assoluta, il 12-13 marzo, per la Stagione concertistica 2009-2010	La Stagione concertistica 2009-2010 del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari prosegue, venerdì 12 marzo alle 20.30 (turno A) e sabato 13 marzo alle 19 (turno B), con il sedicesimo appuntamento: ritorna l’Orchestra del Teatro Lirico, diretta da Alexander Vedernikov, direttore musicale del Teatro Bolshoi di Mosca che il pubblico cagliaritano ha applaudito nelle opere inaugurali delle ultime due Stagioni liriche e di balletto La leggenda della città invisibile di Kitež (2008) e Semën Kotko (2009). In apertura di serata viene presentata, in prima esecuzione assoluta, Sedicesimo di Centuria ... con un lieve disagio di Vittorio Testa, scritta su commissione del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. La nuova composizione del giovane compositore romano è scritta per grande orchestra, su testo di Giorgio Manganelli, tratto da “Centuria” (Adelphi Edizioni).
L’Olandese volante di Richard Wagner inaugura la Stagione lirica e di balletto 2010 del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari	Seguendo una consolidata tradizione, ormai più che decennale, anche quest’anno il Teatro Lirico di Cagliari inaugura la Stagione lirica e di balletto con un’opera di raro ascolto e di straordinario interesse musicologico: L’Olandese volante di Richard Wagner. Il percorso ha preso avvio nel 1998 con l’opera Le fate di Richard Wagner (una proposta musicale che fece ottenere al cd, registrato dal vivo, il premio della critica quale miglior disco dell’anno), ed è proseguito nel 1999 con Dalibor di Bedřich Smetana, nel 2000 con Gli stivaletti di Pëtr Il’ič Čajkovskij, nel 2001 con Elena egizia di Richard Strauss, nel 2002 con Euryanthe di Carl Maria von Weber, nel 2003 con Opričnik di Pëtr Il’ič Čajkovskij, nel 2004 con Alfonso und Estrella di Franz Schubert, nel 2005 con Oedipe di George Enescu, nel 2006 con Chérubin di Jules Massenet, nel 2007 con Gli uccelli di Walter Braunfels, nel 2008 con La leggenda della città invisibile di Kitež e della fanciulla Fevronija di Nikolaj Rimskij Korsakov e, nel 2009 con Semën Kotko di Sergej Prokof’ev tutte opere incise in collaborazione con Dynamic.
“L’Opera al Cinema: operas from the world’s greatest theatres on the big screen. Tuesday at 8pm Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi at the Cineworld in Cagliari	On Tuesday 9th March at 8pm, at the multi-screen cinema Cineworld, in viale Monastir a Cagliari, “L’opera al cinema” continues with the sceening of Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi. The operatic drama in four parts with libretto by Temistocle Solera and music by Giuseppe Verdi is performed by a prestigious cast of artists: Leo Nucci (Nabucco), Fabio Sartori (Ismaele), Carlo Colombara (Zaccaria), Maria Guleghina (Abigaille), Nino Surguladze (Fenena). Daniel Oren conducts the Arena di Verona Orchestra and Chorus. The Fondazione Arena di Verona staged the production in June 2007: production, set, costumes and lighting design by Denis Krief.

Friday 5th March at 8.30pm, for the 2009-2010 Concert Season	The 2009-2010 Concert Season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari continues, Friday 5th March at 8.30pm (session B), with the fifteenth appointment: the twenty-five-year-old Danish violinist Nikolaj Znaider and the Lithuanian pianist Robert Kulek perform in a unique evening of excellent chamber music. The musical programme includes: Sonata for violin and piano by Francis Poulenc; Sonata in E flat major for violin and piano Op. 12 N. 3 by Ludwig van Beethoven; Sonatina in D major for violin and piano D. 384 by Franz Schubert; Sonata in A major for violin and piano M. 8 by César Frank.
Il solista, l’orchestra e la danza: From 3rd to 5th March performance for schools at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari	On Wednesday 3rd March at 11am at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, the musical activities dedicated to schools start up again; three appointments with the Teatro Lirico Orchestra, conducted by Marco Zuccarini, in a performance entitled Il solista, l’orchestra e la danza, with Riccardo Ghiani as soloist. The performance includes three models of classical music: Overture, Concerto for solo instrument and orchestra, and Symphony. The solo instrument in this case is the flute, which will be played analysed in detail by the flutist and also with the help of a film.
In Teatro per Haiti - Isola aiuta Isola	Sabato 6 marzo alle 20.30, al Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, si terrà la serata di beneficienza "In Teatro per Haiti - Isola aiuta Isola" per la raccolta fondi a favore delle popolazioni haitiane colpite dal sisma. La serata, organizzata in collaborazione con il Comune di Cagliari e la Caritas Diocesana, con la partecipazione del Conservatorio Statale di Musica “Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina” e delle Scuole della Provincia di Cagliari ad indirizzo musicale, sarà presentata da Ada Lai.
In distribuzione il nuovo numero di Gennaio-Marzo 2010 de Il Lirico	Il Presidente ed il Sovrintedente della Fondazione invitano ad assistere alla Stagione lirica e di balletto 2010 che viene ampiamente illustrata nel numero di Gennaio-Marzo 2010. All'interno, ampio spazio è dedicato alle Attività per i giovani descritte proprio dagli stessi giovani (il Direttore d'Orchestra Andrea Battistoni e gli alunni del Liceo Scientifico "L.A. Alberti"di Cagliari) che, con un linguaggio semplice, esprimono le loro emozioni e la gioia di vivere il Teatro sia come protagonista che come spettatore. Accanto ad essi, il curriculum di un veterano delle scene, Fulvio Fogliazza, sottolinea l'importanza dello studio continuo alla base della professionalità. Dietro le quinte, si scopre come nasce il libretto d'opera, la pubblicazione di approfondimento musicale e culturale che accompagna le serate al Lirico.

The major of Cagliari Emilio Floris, president of the Fondazione Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, the chief executive Maurizio Pietrantonio and the artist director Massimo Biscardi will be present.
L’Orchestra e il Coro del Teatro Lirico, diretti da John Axelrod, il 26-27 febbraio, per la Stagione concertistica 2009-2010	La Stagione concertistica 2009-2010 del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari prosegue, venerdì 26 febbraio alle 20.30 (turno A) e sabato 27 febbraio alle 19 (turno B), con il quattordicesimo appuntamento: ritornano l’Orchestra ed il Coro del Teatro Lirico, diretti da John Axelrod. Il maestro del coro è Fulvio Fogliazza. Filippo Del Corno, giovane compositore milanese ha scritto, su commissione del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, La gaia scienza che viene proposta, in prima esecuzione assoluta, in apertura di programma. Il violoncellista di Bilbao Asier Polo prosegue la serata con il Concierto in modo galante di Joaquín Rodrigo e, nella seconda parte, le celeberrime Danze polovesiane di Aleksandr Borodin e il Te Deum di Antonín Dvořák. La sacra cantata del creativo compositore boemo prevede, oltre ai complessi stabili cagliaritani, anche il soprano Sofia Mitropoulos ed il basso Simone Alberghini in qualità di solisti.

“L’opera al cinema”: le opere liriche dai teatri al grande schermo. Martedì 23 febbraio, alle 20, Tosca di Giacomo Puccini al Cineworld di Cagliari.	Martedì 23 febbraio, alle 20, al Cineworld, la multisala di viale Monastir a Cagliari, prosegue la rassegna “L’opera al cinema” con la proiezione di Tosca di Giacomo Puccini.Il Cineworld, la società Microcinema live ed il Teatro Lirico di Cagliari hanno avviato una collaborazione, dallo scorso ottobre 2009, che prevede la trasmissione e la proiezione, in diretta o in differita, di opere liriche dai maggiori teatri del mondo. L’operazione, grazie al supporto delle telecamere di Rai Trade, vuole cercare di raggiungere nuove tipologie di pubblico, esaltando il valore culturale della musica lirica, attraverso una sua più ampia diffusione.
I Shardana: il Teatro Lirico di Cagliari rimborsa ratei abbonamenti	Il Teatro Lirico di Cagliari invita gli abbonati alla Stagione concertistica 2009-2010 che non abbiano potuto assistere all'esecuzione in concerto de "I Shardana" di Ennio Porrino, prevista per venerdì 19 febbraio 2010 e non effettuata a causa dello sciopero proclamato delle R.S.U., a recarsi presso la Biglietteria del Teatro da mercoledì 24 febbraio a mercoledì 31 marzo per il rimborso dei ratei di abbonamento.
The Teatro Lirico di Cagliari Trade Unions announce a strike for Friday 19th February. The performance of I Shardana by Ennio Porrino in concert form will not go ahead.	Due to the strike called for by the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari Trade Unions on Friday 19th February, I Shardana by Ennio Porrino will not be performed. The Theatre management guarantees ticket holders seats for the performance of Sunday 21st February at 7pm (session B) while seats last. Refunds for tickets will be made from Wednesday 24th to Saturday 27th February; for Season ticket instalments from Wednesday 24th February to Wednesday 31st March. The management of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
Maurizio Benini conducts the Teatro Lirico Orchestra and the prestigious violin soloist Julian Rachlin, on 12th-13th February, for the 2009-2010 Concert Season	The 2009-2010 Concert Season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari continues with its eleventh appointment on Friday 12th February at 8.30pm (session A) and Saturday 13th February at 7pm (session B), with a concert by the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari conducted by Maurizio Benini. The exceptional soloist: violinist Julian Rachlin, young and prestigious Lithuanian virtuoso, is a regular appearance during the Cagliari Concert Season. He last performed two years ago (January 2008) and his performances are always a great success and met with the critics’ approval.
Grigory Sokolov’s refined recital on Saturday 20th February at 7pm for the 2009-2010 Concert Season	Excellent chamber music once again with the Russian pianist Grigory Sokolov performing for one evening on Saturday 20th February at 7pm (session A), for the thirteenth appointment of the 2009- 2010 Concert Season at the Teatro lirico di Cagliari. The recital includes: Partita N 2 in C minor BWV 826 by Johann Sebastian Bach; Sette fantasie Op. 116 by Johannes Brahms; Sonata N. 3 in F minor “Concert sans orchestre” Op. 14 by Robert Schumann.
I Shardana by Ennio Porrino, on 19th-21st February for the 2009-2010 Concertist Season	The 2009-2010 Concert Season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari continues with its twelfth appointment on Friday 19th February at 8.30pm (session A) and Sunday 21st February at 7pm (session B). Following the public’s approval in the last two Seasons for The Queen of Spades by Petr Il’ič Čaikovskij (2008), Bluebeard’s Castle by Béla Bartók (2008) and Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin (2009), and after the recent success of Orpheus and Eurydice by Christoph Willibald Gluck; the Teatro Lirico proposes the performance of another opera in concert form: I Shardana – Gli uomini dei Nuraghi, the musical drama in three acts by Ennio Porrino (Cagliari, 20 January 1910 – Rome, 25 September 1959). I Shardana is the central piece of a series of events organized by the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari in collaboration with the State Music Conservatory “Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina”, Cagliari, on the occasion of the centenary of the composer’s birth.
Precious chamber music returns with the Vogler-Kuss Octet on Saturday 6th February at 7pm for the 2009-2010 Concert Season	Refined evening of chamber music on Saturday 6th February (session A), for the tenth appointment of the 2009-2010 Concert Season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari: the prestigious ensemble, the Vogler-Kuss Quartet perform. The group formed as a result of the fusion between the Vogler Quartet and the Kuss Quartet. The Vogler-Kuss Octet is therefore made up of: Tim Vogler, Frank Reinecke (violins); Stefan Fehlandt (viola); Stephan Forck (cello) from the Vogler Quartet, and of: Jana Kuss, Oliver Wille (violins); William Coleman (viola); Mikayel Hakhnazaryan (cello) from the Kuss Quartet. The musical programme includes: Quartet N. 1 for strings Op. 8 by Erwin Schuloff; Quartet in B flat major for strings Op. 67 by Johannes Brahms; Octet in E flat major for strings Op. 20 by Felix Mendelssohn.
The soloist and orchestra: the oboe: from 3rd to 6th February – performance for schools at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari	On Wedensday 3rd February at 11am at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, the educational-musical activities dedicated to schools begin again; four performances by the Teatro Lirico Orchestra, conducted by Cristiano Del Monte, with the soloist, Andrea Saccarola, entitled Il solista e l’orchestra: l’oboe. Three forms of classical music are performed: Overture, Concerto for solo instrument and orchestra, and Symphony. The solo instrument, the oboe, is thoroughly examined and listened to, thanks to the help of the oboist and a video-programme. The musical programme, designed for all Sardinian school pupils includes: Coriolan, overture in C minor Op. 62 by Ludwig van Beethoven; Concerto in C major for oboe and orchestra K. 314 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Symphony in D major K. 385 “Haffner” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The performance of an hour is repeated, at 11am on Thursday 4th, Friday 5th and Saturday 6th February.
The Fondazione Teatro Lirico di Cagliari announces that it will be holding auditions in the Chorus	Rehearsal Room for choral parts in the opera The Flying Dutchman by Richard Wagner, programmed for the 2010 Opera Season. Male voices – Bass, Baritone and Tenor will be auditioned for the off-stage chorus. The singers that are selected will be engaged for the period 2nd-26th April 2010. The audition includes the performance of: - a vocalization - an aria chosen by the candidate Candidates who were not considered qualified at previous auditions will not be accepted. Applicants must send their application no later than 12th February via e-mail.
Daniel Harding dirige la Mahler Chamber Orchestra il 2 febbraio alle 20.30, per la Stagione concertistica 2009-2010	In un’unica, imperdibile, serata da “tutto esaurito”, la Stagione concertistica 2009-2010 del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari prosegue con il nono appuntamento, martedì 2 febbraio alle 20.30 (turno B), ritorna la Mahler Chamber Orchestra, diretta da Daniel Harding, e Lars Vogt nel ruolo di pianista solista. Il programma musicale prevede: Egmont, ouverture op. 84 di Ludwig van Beethoven; Concerto in do maggiore per pianoforte e orchestra K. 467 di Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Terza Sinfonia in mi bemolle maggiore “Eroica” op. 55 di Ludwig van Beethoven.

From 20th to 30th January performances for schools at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari	On Wednesday 20th January at 11am in the Orchestra Rehearsal Room at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, the musical activities dedicated to schools start up again; ten appointments with the Teatro Lirico Chorus, conducted by Fulvio Fogliazza, in a performance entitled Ragazzi, all’opera!, which includes pieces from the operatic choral repertoire introduced and dramatized by Gisella Vacca, with the aid of props and theatrical costumes. Andrea Mudu accompanies on the piano. Ragazzi, all’opera!, a performance of about an hour is repeated on Thursday 21st, Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd, Monday 25th, Tuesday 26th, Wednesday 27th, Thursday 28th, Friday 29th, Saturday 30 January. All the performances are at 11am.
The opera at the cinema: operas from the world’s greatest theatres on the big screen at the Cineworld in Cagliari	The Cineworld, the multi-screen in viale Monastir in Cagliari, the company Microcinema live and the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari set up a collaboration in October 2009. Operas from the world’s greatest theatres will be shown live or recorded, thanks also to the support of Rai Trade cameras, with the aim to reach all types of public, celebrating the cultural value of opera music. The events programme beginning with Simon Boccanegra and Falstaff by Verdi, is followed by Carmen by Bizet, opening opera at the Teatro alla Scala which was also “sold out” at the cinema, and then by Salome by Strauss, which opened the Opera Season in Bologna on 16th January. Upcoming appointments are: Tuesday 9th February "Aida"; Tuesday 23rd February "Tosca"; Tuesday 9th March "Nabucco"; Tuesday 23rd March "La sonnambula"; Monday 12th April "Die Entführung aus dem Serail"; Thursday 29th April "Simon Boccanegra"; Tuesday 11th May "Don Giovanni"; Wednesday 26th May "Das Rheingold"; Tuesday 9th June "Rigoletto".
La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini: postponed to January 2010. I Shardana by Ennio Porrino: postponed to February 2010	The Teatro Lirico di Cagliari announces changes to the calendar of performances of La Bohème programmed to open on the coming 18th December. The decision comes in the light of the cuts in funding that the entire theatre-show business sector has had to endure this year. Opera Houses and Concert Halls have been hit particularly badly, and a partial replenishment of capital has not guaranteed full support of all the activities programmed. Unlike some Opera Houses, where programmed performances have been cancelled, the Teatro Lirico’s management has decided to postpone the above-mentioned performances to 2010. The following changes have been made regarding the performances of La Bohème, which consequently entails postponing the performances of I Shardana in the 2009-2010 Concert Season.
La Bohème, everlasting and much-loved masterpiece by Giacomo Puccini, returns to the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari	On Friday 8th January (session A), La Bohéme will be staged, as the closing opera of the 2009 Opera and Ballet Season: opera with four scenes, with libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, taken from Scénes de la via de bohéme by Henri Murger and music by Giacomo Puccini in a prodution by the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and the Badisches Staatstheater, Karlsruhe.Anthony Bramall conducts the Teatro Lirico Orchestra, the Chorus and the Junior Chorus. The Chorus Master is Fulvio Fogliazza. The Junior Chorus Master is Enrico Di Maira.
Da Tàpies a Chillida – grafica originale. The visual project continues at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari	From Friday 27th November 2009 until Saturday 30th January 2010, the stalls foyer at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari hosts the visual project MAT – musica arte teatro, the exhibition Da Tàpies a Chillida – grafica originale for the fourth appointment. An articulated exhibition which includes sculptures, prints and graphic art from a variety of origins, proving that the value and the cultural depth of sculpture, which started out as a “minor art form” has found itself in a leading position in the international panorama; thanks also to the contribution of innovative sculpting techniques that increase and exalt the value and the quality of the traditional methods.

Tribute to Ennio Porrino: the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and the Conservatory remember the Sardinian composer	The Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, has organized a series of events in collaboration with the Conservatory “Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina”, Cagliari, dedicated to the composer Ennio Porrino (Cagliari, 20th January 1910 – Rome, 25th September 1959), on the occasion of the centenary of the composer’s birth and fifty years of his death, entitled Omaggio a Ennio Porrino: musica, parole ed immagini per un ritratto (Tribute to Ennio Porrino: music, words and images for a portrait). The main aim of the whole event, apart from offering the opportunity to listen to rare pieces of beautiful music, is to open a new phase of research and study of the prolific Sardinian composer a through well-organized study congress, which will round up the yearlong programme in September 2010.
